I have been recently appointed as professor at the University of Bielefeld where I lead the Semantic Computing group. I am affiliated to the Technical Faculty and to the Center of Excellence Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC).

Before joining the University of Bielefeld, I have been assistant professor at the Delft University of Technology, where I worked in the Web Information Systems Group lead by Geert-Jan Houben.

From 2003-2008 I was at the Department of Knowledge Management lead by Prof. Rudi Studer at the Institute AIFB of the Technical University of Karlsruhe.

I perform research at the intersection of a number of areas:

• Natural Language Processing, Text Mining
• Information Systems (IS)
• Semantic Web
• Machine Learning (ML)
• Information Retrieval (IR)
• Computational Semantics/Linguistics
